Motourama Part 5: In The Animal Kingdom & Back To The Delicious Remnants Of The Middle Ages

Hello family, friends and followers!

After an easy 8 hours on the road with sunshine and minimum traffic, we arrived in Nürnberg (Nuremberg) and were greeted with delicious homemade vegetarian lasagna and viking blood (a mix of mead and sour cherry juice). A great way to settle in after a day on the road.

The next day we went on a safari in one of the best zoological gardens we have ever been to. The Tiergarten Nürnberg is placed in an old sand stone quarry full of well thought out enclosures with a very natural structure throughout. This is just a select few of the photos from the day:

Gold-faced saki found in the forests of Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela.

A polar bear and a grey heron in a grey environment.

A red panda which can be found in the Himalayas and southwestern China.

A disgruntled, female Siberian tiger which can be found in – you probably guessed it – Siberia.

Sea lions from the Atlantic ocean.

A pair of wild nurembergians, seen here in one of their preferred habitats: Tierpark Nürnberg. Also our generous hosts.

Having had a whole day in the animal kingdom, among beasts almost rivalling Falkor and Phoenix in their raw natural power, we made our way to the old inner city to a medieval restaurant. Here the mead was ever flowing and the Flammkuchen (“English” translation: tarte flambée) was delicious. All in all a day well spend!

From Nürnberg, the road led back north towards Brandenburg. A trip that proved to test our riding gear to the limit. Stay tuned for that story. Until next time, stay wild.
