Motourama Part 21: A Trip Through Hungary
Hello family, friends and followers! In this Travel Story, we say our farewells to Esben’s “Hungarian” part of the family, and drive from Budapest to the Balaton lake, to meet Falkor’s previous owner.
When we bought Falkor from Herbert and Karin last winter, we told them about our plan to travel around the world on two Honda NX250s. Their story was evenly exciting – they were going to emigrate from Bavaria, Germany to Hungary to make the best out of their pension. We received an open invitation to come visit them, when they moved there. We stayed in contact and as both our dreams came true, we just had to plan the route to involve their new home.
The route took us along the Balaton lake, where Esben had spent a summer holiday many, many years ago. He had vague memories of the landscape, and the drive along the coast brought them back. We found a nice spot to picnic and feed ducks, as you do.
We arrived at Herbert and Karin’s house just in time for dinner. Traditional German food was served, and we enjoyed a taste or three of the local wine. Herbert and Karin got the story of the upgrades, that Falkor had received, as well, and we learned that they had called him “Froggy”. Not bad, but not as fitting as “The Fantastic Falkor”, we think. We also found time to play with drones. All in all a very enjoyable evening in their company. There was just one problem though; the guest bed wouldn’t stop spinning for the first part of the night for Denise.
Until next time, could someone please invent a spin-proof bed?!
