Motourama Part 3: How To (Not) Freeze On Motorbikes

Hello family, friends and followers! In this episode of our Travel Stories, we get into snow!

On the way from Münster to Darmstadt, we had a planned distance of 330 km on the country roads. We knew it would be nippy so we snuggled ourselves in some layers. First underwear followed by merino skiing underwear, then a down jacket and the motorbike clothes. On top of all that, a layer of wind and waterproof cosiness. Packed in like an onion, barely able to move, we jumped onto our bikes and started the day’s trip, which even let us through some hilly roads with fresh falling snow in the area around Winterberg – a very fitting name.

Snow on the ground in the mid of April?!

Despite the chilly conditions, our layered driving suits kept us nice and toasty. We only had to take one break to “warm up” – which was also mostly due to the offered hot chocolate and homemade apple pie. Mjam.

The hilly roads eventually smoothed out and we descended into slightly warmer temperatures for a very enjoyable ride the rest of the way.

In Darmstadt, we enjoyed some more quality time with friends, as well as last minute shopping for equipment and clothes.

Until next time, stay fresh, jolly and free!
